What the Chapel Means to Me

Some thoughts from Rev. Gladys Wheaton
It is
The place where my grandparents worshipped
in their retirement years,
and I didn't know it until,
With my mother's encouragement
and my own desire
for a church home
for me + my children
I stepped in one Sunday
and the "Voice" said,
"Now you've come home."
It is
The place where my children grew in grace
and learned to know the Lord
and become their best selves.
And I, their mother, found community
with the Monday night group,
discovering The New Jerusalem,
and walking in its paths,
Found my calling,
added to that of mother and wife,
to be a pastor.
It is
The place where I first served the Lord,
the Lord Jesus Christ,
in a public way.
And now I have returned, a mother in the Church,
to serve the Lord again,
to see the Chapel saved,
to say to all who will,
"Now you've come home."
Prase the Lord,
the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
